Bruce Charles Currie, Director

Bruce has been on the Board of Directors since January of 2023.

You’ve probably seen him at our events as he was the lead photographer for Rockfest for 11 years.          

Bruce was a Crisis Counselor at Chimo House Crisis Centre, in London Ontario, 1970-74.  He’s also volunteered with 24-hour Relay for Cancer in Coquitlam and the Teddy Bear Picnic for 8 years, also in Coquitlam. He served on the Board of Directors, Western Canada Chinese Martial Arts Association, 1997-2004. and is also a member of the Canadian Karate Kung Fu Association (since 1968!) 

Learning more about the Center for Arts & Music (CAM) Program and the work being done has inspired Bruce to become more involved with the Rock and Roll Society of Edmonton.            

In Bruce’s opinion, the best rock stars/bands of all time include: David Bowie, The Beatles, BTO, Heart, Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Long John Baldry, Joan Jett, and Jeff Beck

When asked in which way/s are you (or were you) a badass? Bruce answers: “I’m a former Canadian light heavyweight kickboxing champion, former law enforcement, bouncer for 11 years, photojournalist, and war correspondent.”
