Judy Hoiland, Director
Judy has been a Board member since January 2024.
She has volunteered with the Rock and Roll Society for the past 10 years, mostly in liquor ticket sales at Rockfest and she was the Team Lead for last 2 events held at Hawrelak park.
Judy has also served on the school council for many years while her kids were in school. She’s volunteered for Habitat for Humanity doing special events as well as for the Stollery radiothon.
When asked what motivated her to get involved on the RRSE Board of Drectors, she said “music is such an important part of life. It has the ability to soothe, heal, motivate, empower and evoke memories and deep emotions. To see it helping youth is incredible and I’m honored to be part of an organization that has such a positive impact on them. “
She finds it difficult to choose a favourite local band or musician. She feels that Edmonton has so many amazing local bands. It would be hard to choose just one, although Chronic Rock comes to her mind first, and she asks “who doesn’t like a badass female lead?” (we agree)
Regarding the best rockstar of all time - she can’t choose and simply declares “I love them all but growing up in the 80s, I have a soft spot for the hair bands. My music selection runs a broad spectrum of genres and decades. (minus country. Sorry not sorry)”
